Check the evidence.
We separate what we observed from what we suspect and make gaps clear. For example, a successful backup job tells you something different from a successful restore test.
About BriteThought
When an application slows down or a database question holds up a decision, you need advice you can use.
We provide remote SQL Server assessments for businesses and small teams without a dedicated database specialist. You get a review of the evidence, an explanation of the findings and advice on what to address next.

Our approach
A slow application can have more than one cause. We consider the operation that’s causing trouble alongside the SQL Server workload, configuration and available information about the host and storage.
The question determines the work. Second Opinion reviews a specific vendor claim. Health Check looks at the main risks on one instance. Recovery Proof tests a selected backup chain on an isolated target. We agree that question and the scope with you before starting.
BriteThought founder Harlan’s background spans software engineering, database performance, business intelligence, ETL, architecture, governance and technical leadership. That experience shapes how we work. A qualified specialist is assigned to each engagement.
Why BriteThought
See what the evidence supports, what remains uncertain and which question to investigate next.
We separate what we observed from what we suspect and make gaps clear. For example, a successful backup job tells you something different from a successful restore test.
Our documented review process and checklists keep the assessment focused on the agreed question. A qualified reviewer checks the technical information and explains what it means for your situation.
Your report sets out priorities, suggested responsibilities and what needs testing. Share it with your team, vendor or the people carrying out the changes. We agree any work to fix the findings separately.

What to expect
Each service is a one-time assessment or test with clear limits and a written report. We confirm the scope, collection responsibilities and requirements before payment. Making changes, ongoing database administration and broader investigations need a separate agreement.
A useful conclusion may identify a likely cause, find no material issue or explain which test to run next. We deliver the agreed investigation and report. An assessment does not guarantee a performance improvement or certify security, compliance or recoverability.
Compare servicesWhere we work
We work remotely with businesses, development teams, IT teams and managed service providers responsible for SQL Server-backed software. BriteThought is based in Florida, United States.
With Self-Service, your team collects the information and we analyse it. With Managed, we collect it through your approved access. Recovery Proof is Managed only; the selected backup chain is tested on an agreed isolated target in your own environment.
Service hours are Monday–Friday, 9 am–5 pm America/New_York, excluding observed US federal holidays. Priority requires confirmed availability and does not provide continuous emergency support.
Compare the services, use the finder or tell us about your situation. We’ll help you work out whether one of our assessments fits.
